A trip to Napa isn’t complete without experiencing the ultimate in relaxation: a visit to a Napa Valley spa. My daughter and I discovered this during our stay at the Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa. Our journey began with wine tasting adventures through the stunning landscapes of Napa Valley.

At Viansa Winery, we savored each sip of fine wine amidst the idyllic settings, immersing ourselves in a sensory journey of taste and aroma. From crisp Chardonnays to velvety Merlots, each varietal told a story of craftsmanship and passion, inviting us to savor life’s simple pleasures.

The moment we stepped into the tranquil oasis of a Napa Valley Spa: the Sonoma Mission Inn, Annalyse and I felt a sense of calm wash over us. Soft, soothing music filled the air, and the scent of lavender lingered, carried with it a promise of relaxation and renewal.

The architecture exuded charm, with graceful archways and intricate wrought-iron details creating an atmosphere of tranquility and tradition. Meticulously landscaped gardens and soothing fountains added to the ambiance, inviting us to relax and unwind.

Within the spa’s sanctuary, we discovered a haven of relaxation and rejuvenation. From the therapeutic salt-infused steam of the Halotherapy Sauna to the fragrant mist of the Aroma Steam Room, each experience soothed both body and mind.

The mineral pools offered a serene escape, with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape providing the perfect backdrop for our tranquil retreat. Under the enchanting Sonoma moonlight, we immersed ourselves in the healing waters, feeling the stresses of the day melt away with each ripple and wave.

After our rejuvenating spa experience, we retired to our luxurious suite, where comfort awaited us at every turn. The cozy fireplace and sunken tub provided the perfect setting for relaxation, while the balcony offered breathtaking views of the star-studded sky.

We lounged in plush robes and soaked in the geothermal waters of Fairmont Spa Halotherapy Sauna and the Aroma Steam Room and relaxed in three different pools with calming views of lush gardens and palm trees. Gentle music was piped into the water in one of the pools. I floated on my back looking up at the stars and the Sonoma moonlight and lost myself in the soothing sounds and magic of the moment.

The treatments were just a part of what soothed my body and mind. We signed up for the “Spa Under the Stars” experience that included full access to the Watsu & Spa Pools, the geothermal heated mineral outdoor whirlpool as well as the Bathhouse Bathing Rituals – grape seed exfoliation, halotherapy Sauna, cool shower and cold drench, and a Roman Style Mineral Pool.

We also participated in Wellness and Fitness Classes including yoga/Pilates, an Infinite Method Movement Class, a group “Aura and Chakra” Session and my first group Sound Bath.

What’s A Sound Bath?

We lay on mats in the yoga studio, covered with a blanket and eye masks, while an experienced instructor played crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes, a rain stick and ocean drums. The term ‘bath’ refers to the immersive quality of the experience, as the sounds wash over you, vibrate beneath you and envelope your senses. As I settled into the experience, I could feel a sense of calm washing over me, much like sinking into a warm bath. I felt vibrations throughout my body, penetrating deeply into my muscles and bones. A Sound Bath is deeply personal, and my experience eased me into an emotional release.

In the quiet moments between classes and treatments we wandered along winding paths in the garden lined with blooming flowers and trickling fountains. We sat in companionable silence, soaking in the beauty of our surroundings and we found solace in the simple act of being together.

As we reflected on our experiences, we realized that our visit to Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa had not only rejuvenated our bodies and spirits but had also deepened our appreciation for the beauty of Napa Valley. In the tranquil embrace of the spa and the exquisite flavors of the wine country, we found harmony and balance, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
