Beat the winter blues by heading to Maui to swim with turtles before breakfast try stand-up paddle boarding at noon and barbecue with your family as the sun melts into the ocean.

Now beachfront Kaanapali Alli luxury condominiums, located in Lahaina on Maui’s west coast, offer all the amenities of a luxury resort without charging the daily resort fee. Yet guests have daily maid service and other hotel-like services and enjoy unlimited use of the Fitness Center and tennis courts.

For sunset cocktails, snacks and meals, the place to socialize is the oceanfront pavilion with eight stainless-steel Fire Magic barbecue grills. The open-air gazebo has two 52” flat screen televisions, for watching a big game, a microwave, picnic tables, and complementary paper plates, utensils and foil to make it easy to prepare a meal.

No grill skills? No worries. Kaanapali’s Grill Master knows his way around a steak, Ahi tuna, and a barbie. He offers cooking tips, suggests complimentary rubs and organizes guests at the grill station.

Families and couples soak up the sun at two freshwater swimming pools, in the mist of the waterfall or in two whirlpool spas. The beach is so close you can hear the waves crashing from your condo windows. Just steps from your front door is action-packed Kaanapali Beach.

The Guest Serves desk can book you for catamaran and boat excursions, snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, dinner cruises, whale watching (November – April), or stand-up paddle boarding.

The spacious private condos, (1,500-1,900 square feet) are much larger than hotel rooms and offer space for families to hang out together. After dinner on your lanai or by the pool, check out the fascinating “Tour of the Stars” at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa. The Hyatt has it’s very own rooftop astronomy program using one of Hawaii’s finest recreational telescopes.

It may be the dead of winter at home, but in Maui all you need are your sunglasses and sunscreen.
