Mother’s Day 2010 found me and my daughter JC on a grand adventure for a good cause: biking across America to raise funds and awareness to help fight osteoporosis, which runs in our family and affects millions of American women. Daughter Annalyse trained with us and was along for part of the ride, and goddaughter Laura Maxwell came along as well.

Over the course of two months, we biked 3,114 miles from the Pacific to the Atlantic, through five National Parks and seven cities, beginning in our hometown of San Francisco and ending in New York City. In the process we  raised $52,000 for the National Osteoporosis Foundation for research and education.

While I’m quite sure this is not something I’m ever going to do again, I’m very proud of what we accomplished–and as a chance to bond with my daughters and meet people across America, it was an amazing experience.
