About Marybeth, National Geographic Author, Writer

Curious Explorer. Award-winning author.

Gutsy Traveler: A woman, like travel expert Marybeth Bond, stands among purple flowers, raising her arms and smiling in front of a wooden building in bright sunlight.

Marybeth knows travel. She has hiked, biked, dived, danced and trekked across all seven continents – from the depths of the Flores Sea near Komodo Island to the summit of Kilimanjaro.

More recently, she tracked polar bears and snorkeled with beluga whales in the Canadian Arctic, then kayaked among icebergs in Antarctica.

Somewhere in between, four years of studying in Paris earned her two degrees – and a taste for good wine and strong cheeses.

Twelve books (three with National Geographic), countless travel articles, and numerous TV and radio appearances have built her devoted fanbase. She won the esteemed Lowell Thomas, Gold Award for the Best Travel Book of the Year from the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation.

Sometimes hiding Easter eggs in the backyard just doesn’t cut it. So how about giving your kids a treat this year with a hunt aboard, say, a cruise ship?

MSC Cruises is one such cruise line that is geared towards families and Easter festivities. Not only do kids sail for free year-round, but for the full week of Easter, there are special rates for the entire family.

The MSC Divina will set sail from Miami on April 19 for a 7-day cruise, visiting Phillipsburg, St. Maarten; Road Town, Tortola; and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. The week is filled with Easter-themed activities, including talent shows, Easter egg hunt, costume parades at the Pantheon Theatre, pool games, line dancing and Easter chef classes.

An Easter Gala dinner will take place, in addition to a special Easter lunch. If that doesn’t convince you, maybe the Formula 1 simulator, 4-D Cinema and Infinity pool will!

Celebration Cruise Line also can get you out on the open sea for Easter this year. Their “Cruise, Stay, Cruise Again to the Bahamas!” package has you sailing on the Bahamas Celebration from Palm Beach Florida to the Bahamas to spend 2, 4 or 6 nights at a gorgeous resort on the beach. Kids can enjoy some on-ship fun with the game room, splash pool and 180-foot water slide. You can either depart on April 15 or 17 to spend Easter where it’s warm and sunny.
