Foodie friday: grilled oysters, marin farmers market

One of the best ways to shop and eat in the Bay Area is at a farmers market. One of my favorites to frequent is the Marin Farmers Market, which happens to be the third largest farmers market in California. It has grown since its opening in 1987 to house nearly 200 local farmers at the summer’s peak.

In San Rafael on Sunday mornings, the Marin Farmers Market has an amazing array of ready-to-eat treats.  I always head to Santa Rosa Seafood and have grilled oysters on the half-shell.  They are topped with garlic, butter, fresh parsley and served with wedges of fresh lemon.   A plate of three of them is enough to sustain me while I walk around the market.  They are best eaten warm from the grill while listening to great live music nearby.

The Sunday Marin Farmers Market takes place in the parking lot behind the Marin Civic Center from 8 AM to 1 PM, year round. For directions to the location, click here.
