I’m Marybeth, the Gutsy Traveler. Thanks for stopping by.
Life changing travel. Outside Magazine featured me on the cover and told my story about traveling solo for 2-year-around-the-world.
I have traveled to over 100 countries on a all 7 continents and learned a lot along the way. Now I want to share that knowledge with you. I want to show everyone that ordinary people can live extraordinary lives. My stories are here to show you that you can discover something new about yourself and travel out of your comfort zone anywhere. I've been sharing my stories for awhile. Gutsy Women - the book above - is my 6th book and it sold over 90,000 copies with four editions and in three languages. I continue to write about travel for men, women, teens, families, millennials, and baby boomers.
Currently I'm a contributing writer at National Geographic, Intelligent Travel and Yahoo Travel and Contributing editor for Travelgirl Magazine.
Empowering women. Oprah and I talk about Gutsy Travelers.
A bit about my passions: I started travel writing after a two year solo journey around the world. And yes, I found romance on the road. We were married and have two daughters. That hasn't stopped me from traveling. Last year I kayaked in Antarctica, rappelled off a skyscraper in San Francisco, rode camels at a camel rodeo in the Outback of Australia, cruised the Rhine River, danced in Paris and Porto. I've traveled to over 100 countries and seven continents. I realize that life is short so I'm cramming in as much as possible. My career path: After the two year trip around the world I began travel writing. Today I have 12 books, the last 3 with National Geographic. I was super lucky to be a guest on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” NPR, National Geographic Radio and CNN Travel. Rappelling of a skyscraper in San Francisco to help raise funds for kids to go to Outward Bound camp.
The back stage tour at the Sydney Opera House was fabulous.
Peak adventure in 2014 was kayaking in Antarctica. DISCLAIMER I was an invited guest for many of these trips, but I never accept a trip in exchange for any promise of positive reviews. The opinions and findings are all my own and always... unedited. It speaks for the integrity of these suppliers that they trust their product will shine, without any quid pro quos in exchange for travel. I choose who I work with very carefully for this reason.
